Open Call

Fotograf Festival International Open Call

#your artwork in public space

We are looking for projects to be exhibited in designated public areas in the frequent lobby at the entrance to the Můstek metro station on Wenceslas Square in the very centre of Prague.

Fotograf Festival issues an open call for professionals, amateurs and students who are invited to submit their photo projects. We are interested in artworks representing a distinctly defined project of an independent and non-commercial character.

This year’s fourteenth edition of the Fotograf Festival presents artistic approaches of artists who process their own experience of the search for identity within European culture.

The main theme of the Fotograf Festival International Open Call is IDENTITY. Identity is composed of diverse elements that make up the uniqueness of each individual. It is a puzzle of personal experiences, emotions, values, be it heritage, culture or inner beliefs. The topic of identity invites deep reflection on what defines us and how we present ourselves to the world, bringing to the surface both individual differences and commonalities that unite us.

The 4 selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their works in the exhibition vitrines in the lobby of the metro station A on Můstek in Prague.Fotograf Festival will cover the costs of realization, printing and installation.

We appreciate all genres and the most diverse approaches of artistic creation, since the goal of “Fotograf – contemporary photography zone” is to discover talents. We are looking for talents of any age. Let’s sign in!

Make Voices Be Heard

3.  10. – 3. 11. 2024

V posledních letech dominuje současnému umění debata o dědictví kolonialismu. Probíhá však bez zásadní účasti zástupců zemí střední a východní Evropy a střední Asie, přestože i tato část světa má hluboké historické zkušenosti s kolonialismem a problémy rasové diskriminace. Na to poukazuje řada uměleckých děl pocházejících z těchto regionů, kterým doposud nebyla věnována dostatečná pozornost. Čtrnáctý ročník Fotograf Festivalu s podtitulem „Make Voices be Heard“ se zaměřuje především na hlasy umělkyň a umělců z těchto regionů s cílem rozšířit stávající mezinárodní diskuzi o kolonialismu, postkolonialismu a diskriminaci o perspektivy z těchto regionů.
